Application Procedure:

Official application forms and related materials must be fully and correctly completed for each examination process. A separate application must be completed for each position being applied for. Resumes may be submitted for any position; however, it will NOT be accepted in lieu of a completed HACLA application. HACLA does not return any materials submitted. For complete instructions please see the back of the HACLA application.

Applicants will be notified by mail regarding the status of his/her submission and the applicable next steps in the recruiting process.

Selection Procedure:

Examinations may consist of a written or performance test, and evaluation of training and experience, and oral examination and/or interview, or other tests to be determined by the Human Resources Department. Only the most qualified candidates will be selected to participate in the testing and/or interview process and will be so notified in writing of the time and place of testing and/or interview. Travel costs related to an examination and interview will be borne by the applicant. Final test results will be mailed in approximately 15 days after the final examination.

Eligibility List:

Candidates who attain a passing score on each part of the examination process will be placed in rank order on the eligibility list. Unless otherwise indicated, eligibility lists are established for a period of one year. An individual's name will remain on the list during that time unless the eligible applicant:

  1.  is hired;
  2. declines three interview opportunities; and/or
  3. makes him/herself unavailable.

Other Requirements:

All employment offers are conditional based on the successful completion of:

  1. Fingerprinting/Conviction Clearance - State law requires that all employees be fingerprinted to check for or verify record of conviction for an offense, other than minor traffic violations. All convictions must be documented on the application. A record of conviction will not automatically disqualify an applicant from employment, however, failure to list all convictions may result in disqualification or dismissal;
  2. Medical Examination - All persons selected must successfully pass a medical examination given by a HACLA appointed physician; and
  3. Eligibility to Work - Upon hire each new employee must complete an I-9 form and present supporting documents establishing proof of identity and employment eligibility as outlined in the "Immigration Reform and Control Act."
