Commissioner Tunua Thrash

Ms. Tunua Thrash was appointed to serve on the HACLA Board of Commissioners in June 2009 Ms. Thrash is currently a Director for Green Door Advisors.  Her expertise includes market and financial analysis of urban infill communities, mixed-use retail, office, hotel and housing developments. She has also lead development management engagements in some of California’s most complex urban markets.

Prior to joining Green Door Advisors, LLC, Ms. Thrash worked for West Angeles Community Development Corporation, the community outreach arm of a 25,000 member mega-church in Los Angeles. As Managing Director of Housing and Economic Development, she oversaw real estate assets and development projects, brokered public-private relationships with equity partners, and structured complex financing from multiple sources. She also worked as Director of Commercial Revitalization, for a Massachusetts-based development corporation, where she assisted in the acceleration of private capital investment in Roxbury, an inner city Boston neighborhood.  Her effective networking and community building skills resulted in the launch of a community visioning process that engaged key partners such as property and business owners, residents, developers, public partners, and investors.

Ms. Thrash received her Masters in City Planning from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with an emphasis on urban economic development and a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of California at Berkeley.
