HACLA President and CEO serves as Keynote Speaker at USC Event

January 22, 2008 - President and CEO of the Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles (HACLA), Rudolf C. Montiel, addressed a group of students at USC.  The students are taking part in the USC Ross Minority Real Estate Program.

As the keynote speaker, Mr. Montiel stressed the importance of redeveloping under-served urban communities as a way to help bring social change.  Furthermore, he talked about the Housing Authority’s current project to redevelop the Jordan Downs public housing development in Watts.  Mr. Montiel talked about the challenges of real estate development and redevelopment in under-served minority areas and encouraged the students to rise to the challenges and focus on the life-altering work that can result from changing the landscape of areas that are often over-looked.
