2008 Mayoral Housing Summit  

The 2008 Mayoral Housing Summit - Attracting and Retaining Business by Investing in the Homes Essential to Job Growth - was held at the UCLA Anderson School of Management on September 5. The event featured Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa as keynote speaker and The Honorable Henry Cisneros, former HUD Secretary and CityView Chairman as Master of Ceremonies.

HACLA President and CEO Rudy Montiel was a panelist at the “Are There Reasons for Optimism?” panel. He also spoke to the attendees about HACLA’s Jordan Downs redevelopment project and emphasized the 1 for 1 replacement of Public Housing units.
 
 
This year’s regional approach to housing affordability and availability attracted the county’s major employers, mayors and elected officials as well as business leaders from across all 88 L.A. county cities.

The findings of the first of its kind report Workforce Housing Scorecard for Los Angeles were released during the summit. The scorecard presents a new metric for understanding the relationship between housing, jobs and transportation in the Los Angeles region.
