Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa visits Jordan Downs to meet with Community Advisory Committee (watch video) |
![]() Los Angeles - Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa spent his afternoon discussing plans to redevelop Jordan Downs public housing complex in Watts. The $1-billion redevelopment project is part of the Mayor’s $5-billion five-year housing plan to build 20,000 affordable units.
The Mayor answered questions from the Jordan Downs Community Advisory Committee (JD CAC). The committee is made up of Jordan Downs residents and Community Stakeholders. Mayor Villaraigosa said he is committed not just to redeveloping Jordan Downs but also improving Jordan Downs High School. Committee members’ questions covered a wide range of topics including safety issues, developing college opportunities and job opportunities. The Mayor emphasized that the redevelopment plan has a comprehensive community component.
