Asset Manager Director Nancy Wesoff and LOMOD Corp. staff participated in the 32nd Annual Seminar and Trade Show presented by the Affordable Housing Management Association, Pacific Southwest (AHMA-PSW) on May 18-19, 2009. AHMA-PSW is a non-profit organization composed of affordable housing providers, including agents, owners, property managers and related professionals who offer management and products or services to the affordable housing industry - low and moderate income families, seniors and persons with disabilities. It is the professional association for the affordable housing management industry and represents agents and owners of affordable housing in the areas of Southern California, Arizona and Nevada. AHMA-PSW is the local branch of the National Affordable Housing Management Association (NAHMA).
The theme of the conference was “Riding the Wave of Change”. The 32nd Annual Convention/Seminar & Trade show brought together over 900 industry members in an atmosphere of learning, networking and identifying new products and services. The training opportunities included over 40 classes in the areas of HUD and Tax Credit Compliance issues, management and resident services, maintenance, and financial management. LOMOD staff acted as resource persons for a number of the classes presented by HUD Multifamily staff, as well as attended classes. The industry also provided numerous recipients of the “Dan Grady Memorial Scholarship and Industry Award” winners.
LOMOD and HACLA also participated as exhibitors at the Trade Show, along with HUD’s Los Angeles Office, the City of Los Angeles, and 50 companies providing products and services to the affordable housing industry. The Trade Show provided a great opportunity to meet the owners and management agents for the properties in LOMOD’s 740-property portfolio.
LOMOD Corp. is a subsidiary of HACLA. It administers project-based Housing Assistance Payments and contracts in ten Southern California counties. For buildings serving seniors (persons aged 62 and older), Owensmouth, Las Palmas, Union Towers, Reseda Manor and Reseda East. LOMOD also provides comprehensive social service program through the efforts of the on-site program service coordinators.
