Housing America Poster and Essay Contest:

With efforts spearheaded by Commissioner Maria Del Angel HACLA organized the Housing America Poster and Essay Contest in July 2008.

The contest was open to all City of Los Angeles Public Housing residents. This year’s theme was “There’s No Place Like Home: How important is affordable housing to your success?”

This year’s first place winners were:

Ages 18+	Maria Mendez	Alfredo Rodriguez

The 1^st, 2^nd, and 3^rd place winners received $100, $50, and $25 Bank of America gift cards respectively.

The Housing America Campaign is a year-long effort to inform the public and decision makers about the need to meet the country's affordable housing and community development challenges. All Commissioners in attendance at the 2008 NAHRO Legislative Conference were asked to host a Housing America event at their agency.
