Business leaders, redevelopment professionals and government leaders gathered at UCLA on October 30 for the annual Mayoral Housing, Transportation and Jobs Summit.
Deputy Mayor of Housing Helmi Hisserich talked to the audience about the Jordan Downs redevelopment, process and reiterated the City’s strong support in moving this project forward. HACLA President and CEO Rudolf C. Montiel briefed the audience about the progress, the plan and answered audience questions.
In his closing remarks, Mayor Villaraigosa specifically noted Jordan Downs project, thanking and acknowledging Mr. Montiel. The Mayor added, “We got a plan to remake and recreate the Jordan Downs project... It’s going to be, without question, a prototype of what you need to do to reclaim a neighborhood, empower community, connect schools with jobs, with transportation, mixed-use development, one-for-one replacement.”
