Public Housing Youth Graduate from Social Education and Etiquette (SEET) Program 

Training to be Future Leaders

Fifteen public housing youth graduated from the SEET program on June 14.  This pilot program aims to expose public housing youth to a variety social and cultural activities and events while providing basic understanding of common courtesies and acceptable behavior in such settings.  Phase I of the program, a 6-week etiquette training course included instruction in the following areas:

  1. Positive First Impressions
  2. The Art of Introductions
  3. Communication Skills
  4. Character and Ethical Behavior
  5. Table Manners and Dining Etiquette
  6. Instruction in Ballroom Dance

Phase II of the project  consists of matching each youth completing the etiquette training (Phase I) with a mentor for a period of one year (Phase II).  Youth will be matched with working professionals (some of which are HACLA employees).   Fifteen youth completed the 6-week etiquette training course (3 from Imperial Courts, 5 from Jordan Downs, 4 From Mar Vista Gardens, 3 from Rancho San Pedro public housing communities).
