Housing the Homeless - Permanent Supportive Housing 

Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa led the Grand Opening celebration of the city’s latest apartment complex dedicated for homeless individuals.  The Charles Cobb apartments in downtown Los Angeles is now home to 74 chronically homeless men and women. 

HACLA is pleased to partner with Skidrow Housing Trust in this project to fight homelessness. 

The Mayor’s Permanent Supportive Housing Program is helping the most vulnerable population find stability giving them a chance to live a better life.

“It’s a blessing, it’s a dream come true, you guys are helping me become a better person,” said Lyresh Magee, 28.

Prior to moving into the Cobb apartments, Magee said she spent 7 months living in abandoned apartments and shelters. 

“HACLA is giving people their life back by providing housing,” said Magee.

She said she hopes to obtain a cosmetology license.

HACLA is providng 74 project-based Section 8 vouchers for the complex.
