			<title>Community Resource Fair Provides Essential Services</title>
			<description>The Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles (HACLA) participated in a Community Resource Fair on October 3 in South LA. The event was organized by the city's Education, Youth and Families Department. The community gathered at Gompers Middle school to take advantage of the free resources; youth received homework help, tutoring and counseling resource information, adults were provided with information about immigration, domestic violence, employment and housing issues.  The participants also took advantage of free health screenings offered by St. John's Well Child and Family Center. The non-profit offered general check-ups for children and adults. Miriam Long, Deputy Mayor of Education, Youth and Families, City of Los Angeles talked to participants and encouraged them to learn about the existing community resources and services.
