
Los Angeles native, Commissioner Freeman is Director of Community Relations for Southern California Gas Company (SoCalGas). SoCalGas is the nation's largest natural gas distribution utility, serving a population of 20.9 million consumers through 5.8 million gas meters in more than 500 communities.
As Director of Community Relations, she is primarily responsible for directing charitable giving, implementing community outreach, and developing and maintaining high quality relationships with hundreds of nonprofit organizations throughout Southern California. Throughout her career, she has held a variety of positions of increasing responsibility in sales and marketing, regulatory relations, environment and safety, and engineering at the utility and its parent company, Sempra Energy.
Commissioner Freeman earned an undergraduate degree in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research from University of California, Berkeley, a master of public policy degree from University of Southern California, and an MBA from the Anderson School at University of California, Los Angeles. Her most recent educational pursuit has been teaching an undergraduate course in government and business as a part-time faculty member in the School of Policy Planning and Development at USC.
Commissioner Freeman is committed to public service and spends time serving on boards and volunteering with many community-based organizations.
Commissioner Freeman was appointed to the Board on July 22, 2011.
