HACLA Joins Partners for the Annual Holiday Toy Giveaways

The Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles (HACLA) hosted its annual Holiday Toy Giveaway for its Public Housing communities.

We’d like to thank our partners who came together to spread the holiday cheer to the children and residents across the city.

Los Angeles Council Member Gil Cedillo invited musical actress Jacquelin Schofield, who plays the role of Mrs. Potts from Beauty and the Beast Musical,  to William Mead Homes to perform various soundtracks from the musical as part of the toy giveaway event.

Soledad Enrichment Action (SEA), a non-profit organization, provided snacks and refreshments for Estrada Courts, Pico Gardens, William Mead Homes and Ramona Gardens public housing sites.

The USC Theta Alpha Sigma Chapter of the Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. donated 430 toys to Jordan Downs. The members of the chapter also participated in the event to help hand out the toys and to provide entertainment such as dance-breaking and DJing.

Speak Out Against Bullying, Inc. donated toys to Ramona Gardens and provided funding for a photo booth with Disney characters.

Section 8 program participants who visited the main HACLA office during the month of December with a child received a toy and a book thanks to non-profit Baby2Baby and FirstBook.

Over 5,000 toys were given out to children ages 0 to 12 this year.
