On Saturday, August 15, 2020, The Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles (HACLA) partnered with Starry and A Child’s Dream for a special Back to School Giveaway. As school children prepare for the Fall and more online learning, it has become increasingly apparent the need for more school supplies for learning at home. Starry donated nearly two dozen Chromebooks to families with school-aged children to equip them with the tools necessary to support virtual schooling during the ongoing COVID-19 health crisis. Following the computer donation, A Child’s Dream-CA hosted a backpack giveaway to provide approximately 850 children and their families with back-to-school supplies, books, and personal hygiene products before the academic school year.

In June, Starry and HACLA announced a new partnership to expand access to affordable, high-quality broadband internet to the more than 600 households in Mar Vista Gardens. Residents now have the option to subscribe to service plans as low as $15 per month for true, high-speed broadband, with no data caps or extra fees. Most recently, Starry was excited to announce the extension of free internet service through the end of the calendar year to all Mar Vista residents!
