On Thursday, November 8, 2018, the Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles (HACLA) in collaboration with the U.S. Small Business Administration hosted a vendor workshop to promote opportunities for small, minority owned, women owned, and Section 3 businesses. Representatives of over thirty local businesses gathered in the HACLA boardroom to learn about the contracting process with HACLA as well as bid opportunities and business development resources.
HACLA’s Contracts and Procurement Department begun the event with a presentation on the procurement process, including how to learn about contracting opportunities, vendor registration process, bid submission and Section 3 requirements*. This was followed with a presentation by Kenneth Crawford of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) on business development resources available through the SBA, including resource centers, business loan opportunities, and programs to assist minority or women owned businesses. Nancy Zeoli of WPIC Construction also gave a presentation regarding contracting opportunities with her company. The event concluded with a meet and greet, giving vendors an opportunity to network and ask questions.
HACLA’s next workshop is tentatively scheduled Feb 7, 2019, with additional workshops on May 9, 2019, August 15, 2019, and November 7, 2019. Businesses interested in attending the workshops can contact firstname.lastname@example.org to be added to the invitation list. In addition to hosting its own workshops and trainings, HACLA participates in business outreach events throughout the year with the City, County, and other local organizations. All events will be posted on HACLA’s calendar of events.
