On Wednesday, March 11, 2020, The Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles (HACLA) joined Meta Housing Corporation, Western Community Housing, elected officials, project partners, and community members to celebrate the Grand Opening and ribbon cutting ceremony of Metro at Western Apartments.  Located at 3661 S. Western Avenue in Los Angeles, the Metro at Western Apartments are intended to provide affordable housing solutions and supportive services for homeless Veterans and their families.

Metro @ Western was developed as a collaboration among private and public funding partners, including HACLA’s project contribution of $5 million in Housing Assistance Payments (HAP). The Grand Opening ceremony featured speakers in public office, including Mayor Garcetti, Councilmember Marqueece Harris-Dawson and Supervisor Mark Ridley Thomas.

The Metro @ Western is a four-story building featuring 33 apartments on a half-acre site. Located within a short walk of the Western Metro Expo Line, the project will offer 32 affordable one, two- and three-bedroom units, including a two-bedroom manager’s unit. Units will be affordable for households earning between 30-50 percent of the area medium income. The project will provide supportive services and Project-Based Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (PBVASH) vouchers for 14 units that will target veterans experiencing varying levels of homelessness. The project has the full support of the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System.

Units are designed specifically to aid the targeted special needs population and contain fully equipped kitchens and bathrooms. Common areas include a community room, leasing room, and an outdoor lounge area with play structure.
