The excitement in Watts, CA was palpable on Wednesday, December 18, 2019. Lines were wrapped around the block at Nickerson Gardens public housing development in anticipation of the 6th Annual TDE Holiday Concert. The Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles (HACLA) partnered once again with Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE) to keep this tradition alive.

“Top Dawg is an inspiration to this community where he grew up and he demonstrates such generosity in coming back each year. We’re always excited to partner with him and his team on this event,” said Doug Guthrie, President and CEO of HACLA.

Every year, TDE’s CEO, Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith comes back to the neighborhood where he grew up bringing artists from his label, along with special guests, to perform for the community.

This year’s lineup included multi-award-winning artist Kendrick Lamar, SiR, Jay Rock, Swae Lee, and Roddy Ricch, to name just a few! Also, in keeping with tradition, the crowd went wild at the announcement of this year’s surprise guest, Chris Brown, who performed some of his newest releases.

As always, admission was free to all who bring an unwrapped toy for a child in need. Thousands of people were in attendance, contributing thousands of toys which were distributed to children of Nickerson Gardens the following day. They Toy Drive was also an extravaganza complete with food trucks, free haircuts and real snow!

The HACLA Family looks forward to next year for what promises to be another unforgettable holiday concert and toy giveaway.
