The federal government shutdown has ended, and HACLA continues to remain fully open with no disruptions to our operations or services. We recognize that some families are being impacted by delays in SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits. HACLA has compiled the following resources to help individuals and families access food assistance during this period.

HACLA continues to monitor the federal budget negotiations in Congress and the ongoing government shutdown. Currently, HACLA offices remain open with no disruption to operations or services. We have been assured by our federal partners that Housing Assistance Payments (HAP) to Section 8 property owners will continue through November.

Dear Landlords, HACLA is excited to share an important update designed to better support you and demonstrate how much we value your partnership.

This summer, HACLA’s Watts/LA WorkSource Center enrolled over 150 youth, ages 14–24, in the 2025 Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP). For many, this was their first job and paycheck. It’s a milestone that builds confidence, responsibility, and independence.

HACLA, in partnership with Abode Communities, is working on the exciting renovation of Harbor View Place (also called New Dana Strand Phase I), a mixed-income housing community in Wilmington, Los Angeles.
