On September 27th HACLA hosted a Procurement, Contracting and Section 3 Workshop for existing and potential vendors. The event was well-attended with over 50 current and prospective vendors participating. The Workshop was offered to support small and disadvantaged business contracting.

On July 27, 2023 HACLA held its Eleventh Annual Build Hope, Inc. Scholarship celebration. A total of 136 students who are entering or continuing their post-secondary education and reside in HACLA communities or are members of Section 8 supported families were awarded a total of $214,000 in scholarships to support their academic success.

September 2022 - Over the course of two days in September, residents of Ramona Gardens, Estrada Courts, Jordan Downs and Nickerson Gardens public housing communities participated in “Safety On Site” training sessions offered by HD Supply. More than thirty residents participated in 3-hour workshops, conducted in English and Spanish to accommodate residents with language barriers.

On July 30th HACLA held its Annual KPI and Section 3 Scholarship celebration. Twenty nine college bound youth from HACLA’s public housing sites received scholarships for a total of $38,000. Thanks to the generous donations from Section 3 partners, we were able to support our youth who have demonstrated grit, curiosity and commitment to their education.

March 3, 2020 - EMCOR Services (Mesa Energy Systems) held an HVAC Training Seminar for HACLA’s public housing residents. The training was part of HACLA’s Section 3 program to offer other economic opportunities to Section 3 residents when jobs are not feasible.

In collaboration with the Los Angeles Field Office of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the Department of Labor (DOL) the authority hosted over fifty developers and contractors for a free Davis-Bacon labor compliance seminar.
