In response to stay-at-home orders in the wake of the Coronavirus pandemic, the Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles (HACLA) has partnered with Everytable, a local mission-driven food company, and several Los Angeles City Councilmembers to fund and organize the delivery of fresh, nutritious food to the homes of vulnerable residents living in public housing sites.

On Friday, June 5, 2020, Congresswoman Maxine Waters joined the Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles (HACLA) to deliver masks to residents of Avalon Gardens at the Community Social Hall. Despite things looking different this year due to the COVID pandemic, the staff at the Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles (HACLA) were determined to bring holiday joy to the children of its public housing developments. Unable to hold traditional toy drives like those in the past, the children were brought toys directly to their front doors instead!

On December 2nd, Los Angeles City announced 40 local families experiencing homelessness are moving into a new apartment complex in the San Fernando Valley. Parthenia Place, located in Council District 6, is the city’s first State Homekey Project site to house homeless people. It is the first of 15 planned properties to open citywide with about 750 units and rooms slated for homeless people.
